I'm of the firm belief that success leaves clues, you just need to know where to find them. I travel around the world delivering leadership training to prospective and existing entrepreneurs. During this time I've seen many people from different countries, different backgrounds and different industries and one thing is completely clear and that is there are patterns of behaviour that successful people share.Posted: Wednesday 22 June 2016

Between 65 to 245 million years ago Dinosaurs walked the Earth. They were the largest and the most powerful animals that ever walked the planet yet today the most dominant species is mankind . The difference between the two is evolution. Humans have evolved from their ancient ancestors into modern day Homo Sapiens while Dinosaurs bar some rare exceptions died out. The same is true in business.Posted: Monday 20 June 2016

Approximately 90% of entrepreneurs fail within five years and 95% within ten years. It's not a lifestyle that is to be entered into lightly and you need to ask yourself several questions before you consider becoming an entrepreneur. Considering how much work it takes to prepare for what we expect to happen in business it's not a surprise that we find it difficult to deal with the unexpected yet it's when we have to deal with the unexpected that we look to our leaders for guidance.Posted: Monday 6 June 2016

The person I chose next to be the subject of Entrepreneurship lessons will surprise you but by the end of the article you will understand why I chose him. I'm writing about the UFC fighter Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. I'm sure there will be some UFC fans thinking why a leadership consultant is writing about Donald Cerrone and I'm sure there are entrepreneurs reading this thinking what does a UFC fighter have to do with entrepreneurship. Let me explain the connection.Posted: Wednesday 1 June 2016

We've all either received memos or are responsible for generating memos. They are the lifeblood of the company, making sure the right people get the right information. The question arises, is there a best practice for producing memos? The short answer is no, because the purpose of the memo is to inform the reader about something and different people have different preferences in relation to how they receive information.Posted: Monday 30 May 2016

What makes Manchester United so convinced that Jose Mourinho is the one that will succeed where others have failed. Is it his track record of success? Not necessarily as football is filled with managers who have failed at one club despite having previous success elsewhere. The factor that will ensure Jose Mourinho will be a success is the same factor that has brought him success during his career and that is his leadership ability.Posted: Tuesday 24 May 2016

In New Zealand there is a big disconnect between what we know leadership can be and the leadership employees experience in the workplace everyday. It's this disconnect that is costing companies money everyday and costing New Zealand as a country $5 billion dollars a year in lost productivity.Posted: Monday 23 May 2016

Captain America: Civil War, the biggest movie of the year has hit the cinemas and has recorded the fifth biggest box office opening weekend in history. In the three Captain America and the two Avengers movies Captain America has effortlessly become the leader of the Marvel universe, he's the hero that other heroes look up to, the leader of leaders.
While none of us will ever get the superhuman powers that Captain America has we can however become a superhero leader.Posted: Monday 16 May 2016 -
They are the people we admire, they inspire their teams and take their organisations to levels that their competitors can't. We put these leaders up on a pedestal but they are just like the rest of us, I know this as I have the honour of working with world-class leaders and they have the same fears, concerns and self-doubts like the rest of us. They wake up, go to work and come home again but what they do while at work is different to other leaders.Posted: Monday 9 May 2016

In this article I want to explore each of these stages and what you can expect to facePosted: Monday 2 May 2016
